Mad River (Yep Mad River) to Limit Season Pass Sales
October 15, 2020
Just when you thought it couldn’t get weirder, 2020 just did! The eastern ICON Mad River Glen has announced pass sales will end as of October 15th. We had thought Mad River was ahead of its time – while other areas struggle with how to space people out on their chairlifts, Mad River has one of the only two single chairlifts in the United States. (Yes folk, there is another – Mt Eyak in Cordova Alaska; but we digress and that is most likely a subject for another day.) What could be better than a single chair in the time of a worldwide pandemic!? This is likely a sign that sales are up and the notoriously long line at the single chair just got waaaay longer.
They have stated they are going to take a look at the numbers and perhaps offer some pass products in the future. They also announced that, consistent with the industry trend, all ticket sales this year will be on line and there will be no day-off sales of tickets. Interestingly, Mad River has another wrinkle to deal with. They have shareholders who own the mountain and have special rights to buy tickets. Shareholders will be able to buy season passes still and will have priority over the public on any day Mad River decides to limit ticket sales. For more information see Mad River Ticket Info
