At the start of each ski season we are inundated with extraordinary ski films to get us stoked on the winter ahead. While there are so many out there we wanted to feature a few of our favorites that we’ve seen highlighting skiers in Utah, Scotland, Japan, Michigan and beyond. We hope you enjoy!
The Last Gunners Alta’s record breaking 903 inch season during the 2022 – 2023 will be the last year that Alta Ski Patrol fires their 105-mm Howitzer. After 75 years the war aged weapons will no longer be used as Alta moves towards using the latest in technology for avalanche mitigation.
Thrawn means “stubborn” in the Scottish Highlands – this short film highlights professional snowboarder Lesley McKenna’s homeland and the journey of her career always making the most of what is in front of her.
Here, Hold My Kid (complete film linked here, trailer only embedded) is a documentary following two professional female skiers (Elyse Saugstad and Jackie Paaso) embracing their new role as moms while not missing a beat in their careers.
The Meaningless Pursuit of Snow is a beautifully done film highlighting five very different individuals as they’ve devoted their lives to chasing power, specifically within the backcountry. During this movie you will be transported to the Tetons, La Grave, Hokkaido, the Wasatch, Cookie City and to East Burke, Vermont.
Soul of Alta – Alta is clearly a very special place to the conSKIerge team (reminder, we call it home during the winter months) and we couldn’t help but love this short film highlighting the uniqueness of Alta.
Lake Effect is not your typical big mountain, hard charging ski film. This one highlights pro skier Mike King as he is forced home to Michigan during the pandemic and he discovers of his own backyard. His sentiment that you don’t need to travel far to have a big adventure is one that hits home as a new mom!
Ever watch a ski movie and think to yourself “where are the women?” Me too! Advice for Girls cuts right to it highlighting three generations of women in skiing and empowers all female athletes to believe in themselves. Any diehard skier will be inspired by the messaging and incredible turns showcased!

Charlotte Miller caught the ski bug early from her dad. An avid skier and gearhead, Charlotte claims Sugarbush, Vermont and Alta/Snowbird, Utah as her home mountains. In addition, she has explored many other resorts throughout North America and northern Japan. Despite having a job in the corporate world, she skis 40+ days a year. She is an Ambassador for Atomic. Warning – while she loves to share her love for the mountains with others, don’t try to keep up with her on the hill – it won’t end well.
